New to growing food, best to start small, different from growing flowers, early days many mistakes are made, perseverance is key.....so many elements into growing, from type of soil, how clean the soil is, feeding, pests but sometimes have no choice but to share some with them, timing of sowing, repotting, planting, temperature, air and water, some flowers can really help when grown close to vegetables, like borage that attract pollinators and nasturtiums both can be eaten, herbs are good to start with.....not everyone will enjoy being out in nature growing something, but am sure there will be many that have never tried it and if they do will easily get hooked, so rewarding in many ways.

The country is going backwards..........we wanted our old past back, we are getting it, you just don't want to be on the wrong side of it........back to the days when the wealthy using the money they saved in paying taxes to volunteer to give something back to charity......saving > In taxes.....giving < back.

Who will replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister?

Don't worry whoever is chosen to lead the Conservative party will act like they are a new political party that has just been voted in, they will reinvent themselves and treat the last 12 years as nothing to do with them....those days have gone, mistakes to learn from and improve upon.......but they are the same political party, that never learn. -
The redcurrants were ripening then slowly disappearing, better get out to pick them before there are none left, the blackbird was most put out and was chuntering his disapproval as the bush was being picked...... I agree we could grow much more food in even small back gardens much can be grown in tubs old bins, pots and in the earth even grow bags, a water butt to collect rain water always a good thing to have. The government should be encouraging it, could there be reasons why they don't?........do you think they encourage people to do things for themselves? do they prefer people to pay others to do jobs for them?......I can't think why?

I have also noticed that some imported fresh food now seems to have a shorter shelf life, fruit and vegetables lasting only a few days from purchase, sometimes only one or two. Don't know if this is because of the brexit delays or stores trying to save on waste to maintain profits...... don't know if anyone has noticed this but a number of times a mixed bag of say peppers or tomatoes might have a mixture of fresh and not so fresh fruits.......the good mixed in with the bad.

So we need business investment in manufacturing and to produce more of our own food to eat.......skills in the attributes in demand, so our education establishments such as technical colleges and apprenticeships to link up with the businesses that require a skilled workforce to grow......any student would eagerly learn if they knew they could walk from qualifications into the workplace, financed jointly by the industry, the individual and the state. Types of industry such as energy conservation and low carbon energy products, transportation, pharmaceutical, agriculture, telecommunications, technology and engineering of various kinds.

Whoever wins need to instill discipline and trust into the establishment........they at the moment think they can get away with anything.......they are not special flowers, they are wilting dying flowers. -
