  1. It's interesting that this was on Radio 4 so recently: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001r0tz
  2. Was the September BestAgent report the first one ever, or is there some historical data?
  3. Just watched this all the way through. Some interesting ideas, but man that bloke needs a script! He is essentially saying that his "best agent" data shows the asking prices of homes that have SSTC. That is interesting. He points out that LR ONS data shows completion prices, but has a lag - that is true. So he then makes the case that his price ageed data should show up in the LR ONS data as completed price data in months to come. That seems fair and logical. For the record, I think the lag is about 5 months (12 weeks to completion, one month for the first solicitors to report to LR, then the LR report comes out the following month). But Charie seems very confused about how long the lag is. His headline is that Best Agent prices in Sept will show up as sold prices in the May LR ONS report (Eight Months), so lets take that as the baseline prediction, but he also keeps shooting out other timescales and months and lags. He also gets into a terrible muddle about comparing apples with apples with LR revisions and are they average prices and the methodology. Anyway, it was thought provoking. Some comments on the vid in the OP: 3:55 He says deals are taking 5 months from price agreed to completion. I think more like 3. 8:15 He says prices agreed are likely to be 5% below asking. There is no data to support this. 9:57: "what I'm calling this 8 month delay *mumbles* 6 months *mumbles* published" 10:20 Now totally muddled about how much lag he thinks there is: "Five months, May... April... four months - MAY!" 11:05 Now its five months again! About 17:00 Now the lag is up to eight months again (Sept to May)and then straight back to seven (Feb to Sept)
  4. Too late - Labour had their chance. Still, I'll be voting for whoever can get the current lots out. Plus, if they get a big enough kick up the ar5e, that might encourage the rest of them...
  5. The Negotiator is the leading trade magasine for Estate Agents. As such, it will be read by most estate agents.
  6. Just out of interest, does anybody know the likely outcome if one of the LLs / victims of these scheme were to put their hand in the air and fess up direct to HMRC? There is a line on HMRC's website suggesting that they might be sypathetic in such a case...
  7. The pull works both ways. Moved to London in '93 with work. Could have bought a studio, but didn't. Left in '99 because I was running a shop in Covent Garden and renting in an HMO above a chip shop in a (then) rough bit of Bush. Changed job path, started again on the bottom rung and bought a two bed in North Oxfordshire after living with parents for a year.
  8. Charles Edward Stuart. He's just as delusional, but hopefully will do less harm. On a serious note, Stewy may well be the poster formally known as Hamish Mctavish.
  9. Never. BTL have pretty much left the table in terms of buying. If FTBs are also unable to buy, then there is no "market" because almost all chains need somewhat at the bottom. That CovidBung money won't last forever!
  10. Looks like the 5 and 10 year gilts are still creeping back up?
  11. Yes, this! However, I suspect a lot more people are going to hurt their ankles before anything is done.
  12. Which begs the question: Has the culture changed since then?
  13. That's funny - I thought it was £350m that they needed yesterday. Must be my memory playing tricks.
