  4. Indeed, other arguements aside, the bottom line re: royalty is that the uk cannot afford it, especially given we are looking a depression in the face possibly next year imo. 'Here is the problem with attacking Benefits, as Jeremy Hunt chooses to do. Instead HMRC should be going after the 360x as much Tax Avoid/Evaders. People like Zahawi, Cameron, and Bamford.' https://twitter.com/BladeoftheS/status/1727815204807827660

  7. The Real Reason EV Repairs Are So Expensive Insurers are demanding perfectly good EVs be scrapped, or hiking repair bills from $1,000 to $15,000 for seemingly no good reason. There’s a solution, and it’s in the hands of car companies. https://www.wired.com/story/ev-repair-batteries-expensive-insurance/?s=04I'mm I'm seeing a lot more Renault Kangoo ZE Ev's for sale on ebay, I wonder if this is due to increasing insurance costs or the new model coming out

  11. Just noticed they have added an AI link to ebay selling for writing descriptions. No doubt its early days on accuracy, but those millions of folks who spend their days writing such descriptions as part of their job must be worried about having their hours cut https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/news/2023-september/ai-enabled-description

  15. I suspect it does matter how many chargers there are, as more means increased competition / economies of scale in manufacturing, so lower prices / profit margins. I read somewhere sometime ago that it cost £20k to install a fast charger (don't know what make) presumably as they get more of their intial outlay back, prices will drop. Don't many Tesla chargers have solar panel roofs in USA? this could lower prices as they get installed here. There was an article saying other manufacturers cannot compete with low cost of tesla chargers as they have manufacturing economies of scale. Presumably why BP & Asda are buying loads of them. Also many other car manufacturers have adopted Tesla cable plug type and have access to charge network. Like many Ev drivers, I charge at home & work, I just top up a little bit at public chargers if going on a longer trip, while having lunch or shopping It is also a common myth that going green is going to be cheaper than the old polluting tech, it is often more expensive, especially initially . Transition to new tech includes other factors that save money. In the case of Ev's, reliability (so few moving parts or less parts ie exhaust / gearbox etc) & no need for a service / oil change or brake pads . My Evs has done over 100k miles, still on original discs. I've done 47k miles on same pads, spent almost nothing on service / breakdown apart from replaced wire to back light & its nearly 10 years old (Not a tesla, a renault kangoo ze van) Ive also not noticed any great loss in range at 100k on battery, but old van is slow charge, cannot not use fast chargers, which is fine by me as I only do short distances and van was cheap 4 years ago, then doubled in value as they became more popular + ULEV intro. I'd happily pay a bit more to save kids lungs ... ‘The complete murder of our young’: India counts cost of another polluting Diwali on a generation of children One in three children in Delhi is already asthmatic, https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2023/nov/17/the-complete-of-our-young-india-counts-cost-of-another-polluting-diwali-on-a-generation-of-children
