  1. CGT would be better tolerated if it was applied with respect to inflation indexation. I never understood how you can be taxed on a capital gain if the capital is not valued relative to today's currency. Otherwise that's not a fair tax calculation as the true value of the 'Gain' in CGT is incorrect.
  2. Hope we are ready for the big slap that's coming to the UK. When the conflict is already lost, though no one really wins.
  3. Some often say 'they are all the same', meaning the politicians, without seeing the underlying problem with the system, by design. Unfortunately far too many still see Red and Blue as genuine opposing teams, where anything deeper triggers the tripwire labeled as a 'conspiracy theorist', when herd conformity puts a halt to the majority (as we are all told that them guys are just mental !!!). Like the mind tricks deployed in the Beneath the Planet of the Apes, to scare the Apes away from the forbidden zone (that'll be the Bank Holiday lager again): "Don't go there"
  4. I/we all watched it unfold, it's true alright. When the cookie monster was real. Of course, memory holed now.
  5. Sky news nakedly promoting terrorism now: https://news.sky.com/story/how-the-covert-ukrainian-resistance-movement-is-operating-behind-russian-lines-13202230 https://news.sky.com/video/who-are-ukraines-secret-resistance-and-what-are-they-doing-in-russia-13203589 Seems that Deborah Haynes wasn't one of the journalists that were hit by missile strikes in the Kursk region this week. Edit: There you go boys, something for you to get behind and lean in to, hey, join the war effort...
  6. Taxes are only for the little people. That's most of us here. People talk like we ever have a say in what policies are implemented, yet we cannot vote on anything useful, from parking charges, housing policy to nuclear armament and NATO membership. We are voiceless and most of all, powerless to change anything, as no one can ever be allowed to truly represent the will of the people or threaten to implement real constructive change. That would be framed as socialist or antisemitic and Trump/Biden would forcefully declare war on the notion (again).
  7. Allowing Storm Shadow missiles to target RF airfields means UK RAF airfields become legitimate targets for RF missiles (in the UK or elsewhere). Given that the Ukraine (as a proxy of NATO/US) has lost this conflict, other than clueless diplomatic simpletons like $hite Stammer, does anyone really think such a desperate reckless escalation, whilst unilaterally risking the safety of UK citizens and our assets is a worthwhile strategy from here? Who actually voted for such US/Brussels face saving sacrificial $hit?
  8. Same gov't different colour ties. Same foreign policies, same wars... Same tax system. Same electoral system. Same old UK, just the way they want it. A multi-trillion pound tax haven with 70 million island peasants n serfs crammed into 5% of the land. Same as it ever was, no democracy here, chew over the scraps and pretend you are free.
  9. House prices are down around -15% in real terms since March 2022. Inflation adjusted, house prices are back to 2003 levels, I think we should wait and see where we are in a couple of years. The everything bubble hasn't deflated yet..
  10. Joe Blogs is a bias click bait doom merchant (with his own merch) and a definite agenda. https://www.youtube.com/@JoeBlogs/videos Check out his 900+ vids going back a few years, 70%+ on Russia n China, mostly crap sadly. His latest video on 'positivity' LOL, tosser but his view count suggests he's really coining it in on YT. Don't expect a problem until this Debt to GDP exceeds 80%: Government Debt to GDP in Russia is expected to reach 18.10 percent of GDP by the end of 2024, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations... By contrast with most other major economies, the UK for example: At 99.5% of gross domestic product (GDP), debt at the end of June 2024 was estimated to be close to the annual value of everything produced in the UK economy.
  11. Further info as to why this is no longer a safe strategy, try this posted video, for another perspective from someone recently in the UK gov't.
  12. I don't share his political views but he has opinions I think many would agree with. Interesting insights to those who don't know about such UK/US realities: (set to play at 53mins, the best parts IMO):
